Barrel Art
All barrel art pieces are made from real burgundy barrels that held, in most cases, Oregon Pinot Noir. Not only is every barrel different, but every stave and head that makes up the barrel is different as well. Therefore there will always be variations in width, arch, length and color.
The insides of the stave will be stained from the wine and vary from shades of pink and red to brown depending on the age and handling of the barrel. The outsides will also vary in color from blonde to gray. Some items may offer different options for natural vs finished.
Barrel head products, such as clocks, must be reinforced so the inside or back has been sanded and sealed but the face will vary from blonde to gray and in some cases stained to enhance the white oak.
Checking, chips, dents, scrapes and cracks – both inside and out – are a normal part of the life of the barrel.
